Scarcely a day goes by without some part of the NHS calling for more funding. The subject is irretrievably gloomy.

Whether down to old people or new technology the NHS apparently faces bankruptcy despite its £110bn budget, and urgently needs more cash.

Where this money comes from is another matter, and certainly not one politicians intend answering right now in an election year.
