Known to many as the home of Wembley Stadium, Brent, in north west London, is the second most diverse borough in the country. It is a thriving cultural melting pot with more than 149 languages spoken.
This is a special place, but it is also a borough where one in three households live in poverty – one of the highest rates in London. Even more concerning is the fact that poverty almost doubles when housing costs are factored in, a crisis driving around 150 households a week to approach the council seeking homelessness support. In the wake of the pandemic, health inequalities are also a key challenge.
