Calls for unity over business rates plans

Senior local government figures have made a last-minute plea for the sector to unite ahead of next week’s 100% business rates consultation deadline.

Monday’s cut-off date – almost a year after then-chancellor George Osborne promised the sector would be able to retain all the rates it collects – marks the end of the first stage of what will be one of the biggest changes to local government in years.
