The UK’s top cities will call for a new deal for devolution at a summit in Glasgow later today with the launch of a ‘Magna Carta for the 21st Century’ and a timetable for devolution.
In the 800th anniversary year of the Magna Carta, today’s Core City summit will see the launch of a Charter for Local Freedom, a blueprint for devolution for the next government.
It will include principles for devolving power to improve economic growth at a city level, and a call to localise more taxes.
