Councils counting cost of GP tribunal result

A landmark tribubal case that could leave councils with bills each totting up to millions of pounds could be the ‘tip of the iceberg’.

Partner at law firm Eversheds, Richard New, said a tribunal decision in Sheffield, which recently found in favour of GPs who argued purpose-built surgeries should be valued on a ‘much lower basis’, could have a wider impact with other types of organisations now given the confidence to bid for a reduction in their business rates.
