Councils' plea to support voluntary sector

A group of councils have written to the Government demanding action to protect community organisations during the coronavirus crisis.

In a letter to the secretaries of state for local government and culture, Robert Jenrick and Oliver Dowden, the councils have called for clear guidance on what the Job Retention Scheme means for volunteers as well as emergency funding to support cash-flow for voluntary and community groups.
