Councils’ role in school improvement under threat

MPs have called for a ‘fundamental reassessment of accountability and oversight’ for all schools as significant education powers threaten to slip out of councils’ hands.

A report by the education committee today detailed an ‘increasingly complicated’ system of oversight, accountability and inspection in the education system.
