Coventry City Council has supported more Syrian refugees than any other local authority since the Government expanded its resettlement programme, according to new figures from the Home Office.
Some 71 councils have provided a haven for those fleeing the war-torn nation since the prime minister revealed plans in September to relocate 20,000 people by 2020.
