The Local Government Finance Settlement is to expected to be boosted by £500m, following pressure from sector lobbying and MPs.
The increase in funding is expected to be officially announced this afternoon after being given the green light by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and chancellor Jeremy Hunt.
