Flagship unitary bid binned

Flagship plans by Oxfordshire districts to create four unitaries that would have spilt out into neighbouring Gloucestershire and Northamptonshire have been binned.

The reorganisation proposals had been backed by Prime Minister David Cameron but their cross-county nature has led to the plans collapsing - though plans to create unitaries in Oxfordshire will continue.
