More than 400 council staff are to transfer to an acute trust in Greater Manchester to become part of a new ‘integrated care organisation’. Will social workers have a more secure future, a higher status and a better public image if they are part of an NHS trust?

You may have noticed social workers don’t get a very good press. The media and public see social workers as prone to political correctness at the expense of protecting vulnerable people.
