IFS: Most deprived councils face biggest hit under grant reduction

Leading finance experts have warned councils in more deprived areas could get hit significantly harder by reductions in central government grants.

The warnings came after documents released by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) showed councils would face a £6.1bn reduction in their grant from the Government over the remainder of this parliament – equivalent to a 56% drop.
