IFS director: Tough spending decisions to come

The next government will face tough spending decisions, although cuts may not be as deep as feared, according to a top economist.

Speaking at The MJ Future Forum, Institute for Fiscal Studies director Paul Johnson said that predictions of a ‘rollercoaster’ ride for public finances over the next five years were ‘unlikely to happen’.
