There are some issues over which councils take on the British public at their peril – and the love of allotments is one of them.
Just ask Exeter City Council. The Devon authority has been accused by allotment users of a risky proposed hike in plot rents, with green-fingered residents warning soaring fees mean they may have to abandon their plots.
