NILGA chief seeking ‘real’ powers amid UK’s EU exit

The chief executive of the Northern Ireland Local Government Association (NILGA) has called on the Government to give councils ‘real’ powers and resources post-Brexit.

Speaking after the Government published a position paper that addressed the relationship between Northern Ireland and Ireland following the UK’s exit from the EU, Derek McCallan said councils remained unclear about the implications for councils in terms of manufacturing, farming, local government and construction.
