A council has launched a fresh judicial review after Government confirmed its intention to use RAF Scampton to house asylum seekers for another three years.
West Lindsey DC said the Home Office’s plan to use a Special Development Order (SDO) to avoid the need for planning permission at Scampton relied on an ‘inadequate’ environmental impact assessment screening direction.
Leader Trevor Young said the Government had ‘failed to understand the complexity of the site’.
Braintree DC last week revealed it was subject to a similar SDO application.
Last year, the High Court approved the Home Office’s short-term use of both airbases using emergency powers.
