Optics of Afghan refugee eviction questioned

Councils have questioned the optics of the Government’s decision to serve legal notices on Afghan refugees after they started turn up homeless at town halls.

Local authorities had previously raised concerns families would be made homeless, with around 8,000 Afghan individuals – housed at 59 temporary bridging hotels across the country – having been served notice by the Home Office to leave over the next few weeks.
