Putting the choice back into social care

For more than a decade, social care reform has been driven by the idea that we need to give people more choice and control over their own care – this is sometimes also called personalisation.

In its recent White Paper, People at the Heart of Care, the Government said: ‘Genuine choice and control about personalised care and support can enhance quality of life and promote independence in a way that matters to individuals.’
