An overhaul of the Government’s ‘superficial’ approach to tackling failure in public services is needed amid predictions of further upheaval in the sector, a new report has urged.
As the Institute for Government (IfG) warned local government would be unable to avoid future failures under the pressure of strained budgets, continuing reforms and increasing demand, programme director Emma Norris argued ‘restructuring a service or parcelling out blame’ would not solve problems.
