Report: housing targets ‘impossible’ for councils

A lack of planning resources means housing targets ‘will be impossible’ for almost 90% of local authorities, a report today has claimed.

The joint research by the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) and LGiU think-tank also found 64% of councils and 45% of small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) housebuilders believed the lack of planning resources was a barrier to developing more small sites.
