Chancellor George Osborne’s Northern Powerhouse is set to take another step forward, with Sheffield City Region signing a devolution deal.
The deal, which will include a directly elected mayor, is likely to include some of the key asks of the original proposal put forward by the region, but fall short on requests for fiscal devolution.
