Social care council tax precept could be in Spending Review

George Osborne is reportedly expected to let councils impose a 2% ‘social care precept’ in this week’s Spending Review.

According to various reports in the national media over the weekend, the chancellor is due to announce that local authorities will be able to raise council tax bills by an additional 2% in order to tackle the growing crisis in social care funding.
