Think tank questions social care precept

The Government’s new social care precept could raise only £800m, according to new research by The King’s Fund.

According to figures published yesterday in a national newspaper from the health think tank, the additional 2% council tax rise being offered to local authorities will raise far less than the £2bn suggested by chancellor George Osborne in last month’s Spending Review.
