Wakefield boss Roney is next Manchester chief

Wakefield MBC boss Joanne Roney is expected to replace Sir Howard Bernstein as the new chief executive of Manchester City Council.

Ms Roney, who was awarded the OBE for services to local government in 2009, has held the top job at Wakefield since 2008, and previously worked as director of housing at Kirklees MBC and executive director with responsibility for housing, communities and adult care services at Sheffield City Council.
