It's been two years since New Local published The Community Paradigm – a think-piece in which we called for a massive reorganisation of public services, built around principles of devolution, localisation and democratisation.
That report catalysed a movement in local government, as it chimed with a growing number of councils who were embracing community power and building it into their work. This movement was then supercharged by the pandemic, as it became clear that old ways of doing things simply could not meet the challenges of the new world.
