Government best value interventions in local authorities are not uniform – and nor should they be.

I’ve had personal experience of several, from different perspectives: as a councillor in a council subject to Directions; as a commissioner responsible for overseeing Directions in another council; as part of a statutory Improvement Board under the Welsh Government’s intervention framework; and as a member of a voluntary recovery board supporting a council with commissioners.
