Around four-in-five people living in England support the devolution of more powers to local areas, pollsters have discovered.
The findings derive from a BBC commissioned telephone survey of around 3,000 adults conducted by pollsters ComRes last month, which showed a regional variation in the numbers of English people calling for English votes on English laws (EVEL).
People in the East Midlands recorded the highest level (74%) of support for the exclusion of Scottish Westminster MPs from influencing solely English concerns, compared with a national average of 66%.
