A hike too far?

Councils’ funding crises and the degree of control taken by central government over decisions on using council tax as a way of solving them were firmly in the spotlight last week.

While Prime Minister warned local authorities needed to be ‘restrained in the council tax rises they put in place’, Thurrock Council, Woking BC, Birmingham City Council and Slough all got the go-ahead from Government to increase their rates by up to 10%.
