A tribute to the unsung heroes of public service

I am writing this column on the weekend after the horrific fire at the Grenfell Tower, which followed the terrorist attacks in Manchester and the London Bridge Borough Market/Finsbury Park areas.

Unless you are part of these terrible events, it’s probably not possible to fully understand the horror, grief and lasting impact they have on individuals, families and communities. Our hearts go out to all of them and everyone’s thoughts turn to what we can do to help.
