Acting now on standards will enable public sector to reap the benefits of AI

Artificial intelligence – and in particular machine learning – will transform the way national and local government make decisions and deliver public services. Correctly implemented, this technology is a real opportunity to make public services more efficient, transparent and objective.

Front line services, many of which are delivered by local government, will be transformed – to the benefit of the public and the taxpayer – by dynamic, automated systems that will improve services and increase efficiency. We know that local government is keen to realise these benefits; but it’s early days.
