An appetite for change in Durham

Kelly Rose says tackling health inequalities is the key focus of Durham County Council’s work to improve access to healthier food, alongside promoting low carbon diets.

Food is a multi-faceted topic that impacts on almost every area of life. The public health team at Durham CC and key local stakeholders in County Durham are exploring several initiatives to create a healthier food system so people can access affordable, healthy and climate friendly food.

County Durham is committed to a whole-system approach to increase healthy weight and fair access to sustainable healthy food for a healthier population by 2030.
