Are two roles too many?

To adapt an old Sun headline about David Mellor, Mark Rogers went from two roles to none in around six months.

His high-profile departure as chief executive of Birmingham City Council came months after he ended three years as the president of the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives (SOLACE). There was a hint that being seen to juggle another hat with the challenging full-time day job may have weakened his position in Birmingham.
