Brokenshire in unitary unanimity move

Future unitary bids will only be considered if they are ‘coalescing around a single option,’ the Government has confirmed.

Communities secretary James Brokenshire reiterated the Government’s continued commitment to unitary bids and mergers ‘when locally requested,’ adding: ‘The Government does not support top-down unitary restructuring.’
