Building Community Power in Bristol

I came into politics from a community development background. I worked for a development agency, as a journalist and then in the voluntary sector before going on to manage race equality in mental health issues for the NHS.

Throughout, I saw that community organisations can provide services in ways that the public sector cannot or will not. I saw it repeatedly - particularly around mental health, where so often people fall out the system.
