CCN conference: LEPs look set to be scrapped

Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) look set to be scrapped after levelling up secretary Michael Gove indicated his preference for a more accountable system to the County Councils’ Network conference today.

Asked about the future of LEPs amid the on-going review, the secretary of state said: ‘My preference is that powers, including economic development powers, are best exercised alongside other powers that rest in the hands of democratically elected, accountable leaders.
