Census concerns mount ahead of publication date

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has attempted to ease local government anxiety over the accuracy of the first data from the 2021 census due out next week.

London Councils has suggested that the capital’s population may have been ‘significantly under-counted’ because the census took place during a lockdown and urged ONS to exercise ‘extreme caution’ in calculating population estimates for the next few years.
