Children's boss leaves after damning Ofsted

Middlesbrough Council's children’s services boss has stepped down following a damning report exposing serious and widespread failures across the board. 

Helen Watson, executive director of children’s services at the council, departed last week in the wake of an Ofsted report in January that found children were vulnerable to harm and exploitation, and were being ‘chronically neglected’ for too long before they are helped.
