Committee bemoans 18-month delay to report response

The Committee on Standards in Public Life has scolded ministers for taking 18 months to respond to its report on ethical standards in local government.

In its January 2019 report, the committee made a series of recommendations, including that council standards boards should have the power to ban councillors for up to six months without allowances and that a new model code of conduct to encourage a consistent approach across all local authorities.
