In Wales, the Conservatives lost their only council at the local elections, with Labour the clear election night winners.
In Monmouthshire CC, previously held by the Conservatives, has shifted to no overall control with Labour as the largest party. Blaenau Gwen and Bridgend County Borough Councils also turned red.
Labour gained 66 seats, with the independents up eight and the Liberal Democrats up by ten. The big losses went to the Conservatives, who walked away from the polls with 86 fewer seats – while Plaid Cymru saw a net loss of six seats.
Plaid took control in Isle of Anglesey CC, and retained Gwynedd Council.
Overall, Labour now controls eight of Wales' 22 councils, with Plaid controlling four and ten in no overall control.
