Core Cities issue devolution declaration

Leaders of the Core Cities group today launched a devolution declaration aimed at setting urban areas free to drive economic growth and deliver place-based integrated services.

The launch of the declaration at the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors in Westminster was avowedly likened in ambition to the 1787 Constitutional Convention that paved the way to the birth of the United States.

Leader of Newcastle City Council, Cllr Nick Forbes, who is vice-chair of the Core Cities said: ‘The devolution declaration is our vision of a modern state for a stronger Britain.’
