Councils face stark choices on services

It has been quite a month for the country with long term implications for the public sector.

If the current leadership of the Conservative party get their way the state will shrink. In many respects I think the debate in government will be around how big a contraction.  We do know that both the Prime Minister and chancellor thought the previous period of austerity did not go far enough. This contraction will take place in a period where many local authorities have very fragile finances.
