Councils in fresh Brexit warning

Scotland’s council leaders today warned that the lack of progress on Brexit talks posed a ‘significant risk’ to local government services.

Calling for an extension to the transition period beyond the end of the year, president of the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities, Cllr Alison Evison, said: ‘If the UK and EU stop negotiations in June or are unable to conclude a deal by October we would be back to a no-deal scenario.
