Frustrated councils are racing to spend their additional restrictions grant funding after the Government stubbornly refused to offer any flexibility ahead of a looming deadline.
Local authorities have been told they have until the end of this month to prove they have spent or ‘made a validated attempt to spend’ 100% of the additional restrictions grant (ARG) they have been allocated or they will not qualify for the latest £425m announced by the Government.
