Decision to cut mourners led to 'horrendous' abuse of council workers

A decision by Europe’s largest local authority to reduce the numbers of mourners at funerals during the pandemic led to a ‘horrendous’ level of abuse of staff, according to a senior councillor.

Birmingham City Council Cabinet member for homes and neighbourhoods Cllr Sharon Thompson said one staff member was even driven at by a car.
