Domestic abuse crime figures surge

The number of domestic abuse-related crimes recorded by the police has surged by 24% in the year ending March 2019, new figures show.

According to the Office of National Statistics (ONS), there were 746,219 records of domestic-abuse related crime in England and Wales between April 2018 and March 2019. This compares to just 599,549 in the previous year.
