Newcastle City Council leader Nick Forbes has hit out at the Government for announcing the latest COVID restrictions in the North East without telling the councils involved.
Health secretary Matt Hancock announced the tough new measures that will make it illegal for people from different households to meet up. The new rules cover two million people in the North East in a bid to halt the spread of the virus.
