Gary’s leaving his mark

Local Government Association (LGA) chairman Lord Porter has got to be local government’s comeback king, hauled back from the brink of retirement more times than Frank Sinatra.

The good Lord – or ‘only Gary’ as he refers to himself – had his tenure extended when he was leader of the LGA Conservative Group and has hoicked himself from the edge of extinction a couple of times since taking up the mantle to lead the LGA.
