Government asks councils to confirm safety of privately owned high-rise buildings

Communities secretary Sajid Javid has repeated calls for all private owners of high-rise buildings to cooperate with local authorities and test the ACM cladding on their buildings for fire safety.

In an oral statement to Parliament yesterday, Mr Javid said: ‘While 89 private buildings in England have tested their cladding, I continue to urge all private owners of similar blocks to submit samples for testing.’
