Government must rethink its approach to poor governance and behaviour in councils

The Government’s response last month to the Committee on Standards in Public Life (CSPL) report – three years after it made 26 important recommendations – was disappointing.

But, with the behaviour and actions of senior ministers and civil servants under scrutiny at a national level, perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised this Government failed to take the matter as seriously as many in the sector would have liked.
