Government races ahead with further voter ID pilots

The Government is to push ahead with further controversial voter ID pilots in the face of criticism that the project is being ‘rushed’.

In-depth evaluation of the trials by campaigners claimed this year’s pilots were far from a success, with lower social and economic groups, people aged under 35 and those less politically active found more likely to be unaware they would have to show identification before voting.
